West Delhi is one of the 11 administrative districts of Delhi in India. It is bounded by the districts of North West Delhi to the north, North Delhi and Central Delhi to the east, South West Delhi to the south, and Jhajjar District of Haryana state to the west.
The district is further divided into three subdivisions:
West Delhi is considered to be one of the crucial districts as most of the administration work is handled here. The Deputy Commissioner who is the Head of all administrative work holds his office in West Delhi.

Land in western Delhi was allotted to refugees after 1947, these refugee colonies, U-shaped with a park in the middle, became the template for subsequent neighbourhood’s, partly because they were built by the same urban planners who shaped Delhi through the 50’s and 60’s. But this was the beginning of West Patel Nagar, Moti Nagar, Rajouri Gardens, Rajinder Nagar: overwhelmingly Punjabi neighbourhood’s that today constitute quintessential feature of Delhi.
West Delhi was created with the earlier 9 districts of Delhi. It includes places like Janakpuri which dates back to 1970s and it is an important residential colony. The district centre of Janakpuri is an important centre housing many government offices and other businesses.
West Delhi paints the picture of a place that includes everything right from the finest restaurants to the big shopping malls ,hospitals with world class amenities ,street markets, hotels, multiplexes etc. From the very beginning there has been constant improvement and development in terms of the infrastructure.
Airport Connectivity:
West Delhi District has easy access to the Indira Gandhi International & Domestic Airports.
Metro Connectivity:
With the connectivity of two Metro lines i.e. Blue and Green line transportation around the city is not a tedious task.
Major Markets:
Kirti Nagar which is situated to the West of New Delhi is known as India’s biggest hub for furniture shopping and décor market.
Major Roads:
Najafgarh Road ,Pankha Road and Delhi Outer Ring Road are some of the major roads in the district. These roads are connecting all the major localities such as Pitampura, Shalimar Bagh, Model Town, Moti Bagh and many more areas.
Major Schools:
There are several prominent schools like DAV, Rukmani Devi, Meera International etc, colleges and administrative centres in West Delhi.
Major Hospitals:
In West Delhi, there are some of the important hospitals and emergency centres which have the best healthcare facilities: Rajeev Gandhi Cancer Hospital, Fortis Hospital and Max Hospital etc.
West Delhi has become a famous market area as well as a well-planned posh residential area. It has provided a great boost to the real estate business and has also seen recent major developments in terms of its infrastructure.
The construction of transit infrastructure gave an instant rise to the property prices in the Metro vicinity. Not just commercial and retail ,the residential areas in West Delhi like Janakpuri and Tilak Nagar close to Metro station witness a powerful impact on prices due to improved connectivity.
