North East Delhi district is one of the eleven administrative districts in the National Capital Territory of Delhi, India.

It encompasses a diverse mix of urban and rural areas, with a significant population residing in densely populated neighborhoods. Bounded by the borders of the Yamuna River on the west, Ghaziabad District to the north and east, East Delhi to the south, and North Delhi to the west across the Yamuna.

North East Delhi District is a diverse and dynamic region that blends urban and rural areas. The district is known for its historical significance, housing prominent landmarks like the Red Fort and Jama Masjid. North East Delhi has three Subdivisions which includes:

• Karawal Nagar
• Seelampur and
• Yamuna Vihar

The district has a population density of 36,155 inhabitants per square kilometer. The district administration carries multifarious activities including magisterial matters, revenue courts, issue of various statutory documents, registration of property, etc.

When the government decided to divide Delhi administratively, into nine regions, North East Delhi was carved as one of the nine districts of Delhi in January 1997.

The administrative headquarters is located in the D.S.I.D.C. Office Complex at Nandnagri Delhi 110093, opposite Gagan Cinema. 

Prior to the division of the Capital City into various Districts, Delhi was managed as a singular unit with its headquarters at Tis Hazari which is considered of immense historical, social, cultural and economic significance.
