Geographically, the Western Suburbs lie at the western part of Salsette Island.  With extension up to Borivali in the planning stage, a branch of the Harbour line terminates at Goregaon and Line 1 of the Mumbai Metro also covers the entire suburb of Andheri.

History Of Mumbai Western Suburbs

The oldest suburbs of the city are the Western Suburbs. With the arrival of the Portuguese in the 16th century, the area became a hub for trade and commerce. During the British Raj, the western suburbs underwent significant development with the construction of the Bandra-Worli Sea Link, the Mahim Causeway, and the Western Railway line.

After India's independence, the western suburbs continued to witness rapid development, with the construction of residential and commercial complexes and the establishment of various educational institutions and healthcare facilities.
