Mira-Bhayandar is situated in the Thane district of Maharashtra. Mira Bhayandar is a city and a municipal corporation that lies on the northern part of Salsette Island, adjacent to the Vasai Creek, and shares a boundary with North Mumbai.

The Mira-Bhayandar Municipal Corporation (MBMC) governs the city, which had a population of 809,378 according to the 2011 Census. The city falls under the Mumbai Metropolitan Region (MMR).

Mira-Bhayandar is a twin city located in the Thane district of Maharashtra, India. It is situated to the north of Mumbai and is part of the Mumbai Metropolitan Region. The city is named after two former villages - Mira and Bhayandar - which were merged to form a municipal corporation in 1985.

After the decline of the Portuguese Empire, the region came under the control of the British East India Company in the 18th century. It was a part of the Thane district under British rule.

In the 20th century, Mira and Bhayandar were separate villages that gradually developed into a single urban area due to rapid industrialization and urbanization. The Mira-Bhayandar Municipal Corporation was formed in 1985 by merging the two villages to form a single municipal corporation.
