The Karnataka Industrial Areas Development Board (KIADB) is a statutory authority established under Section 5 of the Karnataka Industrial Areas Development Act (KIAD Act) of 1966 through Order No. Cl 67 GMI 66 dated June 20, 1966. Its primary objective is to facilitate the rapid and systematic development of industries by providing industrial infrastructure and other necessary amenities within designated industrial areas in Karnataka. The KIAD Act of 1966, a special legislation, enables the efficient acquisition of land for industrial and infrastructure purposes.

KIADB operates in accordance with the statutory provisions, rules, and regulations outlined in the KIAD Act. The Board consists of senior government officials serving in an ex-officio capacity. Regular meetings are held to make decisions and oversee the Board's operations. The vision of KIADB, coupled with its world-class infrastructure, has positioned Karnataka as a leading destination for investors and entrepreneurs from around the globe, attracting startups and ventures to the state.

• For the fiscal year 2023-24, KIADB has outlined an annual action plan focusing on CSR activities. This plan emphasizes community development, environmental sustainability, and social welfare projects, reflecting KIADB's commitment to responsible industrialization.
• KIADB is actively involved in establishing new industrial zones to attract investments and support various sectors. For instance, the proposed development of Masthenahalli Phase-II Industrial Area in Kolar district aims to accommodate diverse industries, enhancing regional economic growth. 
• Recognizing the importance of logistics in industrial growth, KIADB has approved proposals for land allotment to develop warehousing parks. For example, M/s. ILV South Warehousing Parks Pvt. Ltd. has been allotted 50 acres in Jakkasandra 2nd Phase to establish warehousing facilities.
• Dedicated zones for SEZs (Special Economic Zones), industrial corridors, and high-tech hubs. Focus on sectors like aerospace (e.g., aerospace park in Devanahalli), IT/BT parks, and automotive hubs.
• Linking industrial areas with major highways, railways, and airports for seamless transportation and logistics. Development of logistics parks and warehousing zones for supply chain efficiency.

The Karnataka Industrial Areas Development Board (KIADB) has undertaken several initiatives to promote industrial growth and infrastructure development in Karnataka. Some of the key initiatives include:

• Implementation of Common Effluent Treatment Plants (CETPs) and Sewage Treatment Plants (STPs) in industrial areas to manage waste effectively.
• Inclusion of green spaces and eco-friendly measures in master plans to promote sustainable industrialization.
• Development of infrastructure and incubation centers to support startups and MSMEs (Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises).
• Affordable land allotment and special incentives to encourage small-scale entrepreneurs.
• Collaborations with private companies to develop and manage industrial parks and infrastructure projects.
• Encouraging investments through favorable policies and ease of doing business initiatives.
• Supporting infrastructure development for better connectivity to industrial areas, including roads, railways, and proposed metro extensions in Bengaluru.

The Karnataka Industrial Areas Development Board (KIADB) oversees industrial development across 30 districts in Karnataka. It has established 173 industrial areas, covering various sectors and catering to diverse industries. Some of the key areas covered under KIADB include:

1. Bengaluru Urban and Rural Districts: Industrial hubs like Peenya, Bommasandra, and Whitefield, focused on IT, electronics, and manufacturing.
2. Mysuru: Industrial areas such as Nanjangud, supporting textiles, food processing, and automotive industries.
3. Hubballi-Dharwad: Promoting engineering, agro-processing, and logistics sectors.
4. Belagavi: Focused on manufacturing, foundries, and aerospace industries.
5. Mangaluru: Industrial areas for petrochemicals, logistics, and port-based industries.
6. Tumakuru: Known for machine tools, precision engineering, and auto components.
7. Ballari: Supporting steel and mining industries.
8. Kolar: Promoting greenfield projects, including electronics and renewable energy.
9. Chikkaballapur and Ramanagara: Emerging hubs for logistics, textiles, and MSMEs.
10. Special Economic Zones (SEZs): Established in areas like Devanahalli and Hassan for sectors like aerospace, IT, and pharmaceuticals.
