Noida Commuters, Heavy Traffic Ahead! Taj Highway Diverted for 3 Months — All You Need to Know

Noida: Commuters of Noida should be aware that traffic on the Taj Highway will be moved to the service lanes for three months from Monday, October 6. According to officials, the shifting of vehicle movement was important to carry out the work of an underpas between Tigri roundabout and Gaur Chowk. They added that workers will begin digging the underpass from Monday, alerting that this may cause huge traffic on key routes.
The diversion will likely cause traffic jams at one of the busiest intersections in Greater Noida West. Prabhat Shankar, senior manager at the Greater Noida Authority, said the main road will stay closed during the excavation. He added that about 35% of the underpass is already finished and the entire project should be done by May next year.
In June, the authorities closed the other side of the underpass—from Bisrakh to Gaur Chowk—and moved traffic onto the service lanes while construction happened. That part of the work is almost complete now.
The underpass will be 700 metres long and run alongside the Taj Highway at Gaur Chowk. It is part of a bigger plan to reduce traffic in this busy area of Greater Noida West. The six-lane underpass will connect Greater Noida, Gaur City, and DME directly, allowing vehicles to avoid Gaur Chowk. Half of the underpass (350 metres) lies on each side of the chowk. The project will cost around Rs 92 crore.
Amarjeet, a resident of Gaur City, said, “This stretch already has heavy traffic. People from Gaur City and Ghaziabad use this route to travel to Greater Noida West.”
