Lucknow Metro Rail Corporation (LMRC) successfully conducted the trial run of the first metro train set on its elevated track (viaduct) on Kanpur Road on December 28. The trial was conducted on the 6.5 km long elevated track between Transport Nagar and Mawaiya metro stations. It is almost 27 days after Uttar Pradesh CM, Akhilesh Yadav launched the trials of metro on corridor that the train was able to complete its first roundup trial from the depot to the Mawaiya Station and then again back to the depot.
A complete round trial was conducted on December 28 morning as the metro train travelled from the Transport Nagar depot to the Mawaiya metro station. The train first scaled the ramp in the depot at around 10.30 am and then travelled to Transport Nagar and other metro stations en-route to reach the Mawaiya metro station at around 11.40 am. It then returned to the depot by 12.40 pm. The metro train was run on the elevated viaduct at a varying speed of 5 km per hour to 25 km per hour.
During the trial, the train along with the metro system was tested and checked for various technical and operational issues on different parameters. Regular trial and testing of the metro train shall be done by Lucknow Metro in the coming days for ensuring safe driving of metro while carrying passengers, said the Lucknow Metro officials. Earlier too, the train was to be run on trial on the viaduct last week but the testing failed. So after the problems were rectified, the train was again launched on corridor on Wednesday.
The full testing of different systems and subsystems like brake, motors, doors, AC is also planned in a sequential way. After testing of individual systems, its integration with other system will also be verified. A large number of technical experts of different systems from France, Germany, Italy, Korea & others are regularly visiting LMRC in this connection.
