Koramangala to Inner Ring Road Flyover Back on Track — Will Bengaluru’s IT Corridor Finally See Relief?

After years of delays, Bengaluru's Ejipura flyover project is finally progressing. BBMP aims to complete it by January 2026. A new contractor is on the job, but has been warned against further delays after missing several monthly targets.

Bengaluru: After years of delays, broken promises, and frustration for commuters, the long-stalled Ejipura flyover project in Bengaluru is finally moving ahead. The 2.5-kilometre flyover, meant to connect Kendriya Sadan in Koramangala to Ejipura junction on the Inner Ring Road, is now getting a serious push from city authorities. The Bruhat Bengaluru Mahanagara Palike (BBMP) said they plan to finish it by January 2026. Once constructed, the flyover will ease traffic in the busy IT corridor.

New tenders and work orders have been issued, and some progress has already been made. According to officials, about 10 per cent of the construction work was completed just last month. It should be noted that the same amount had been done in the years since the project started in 2017.

However, the project faced one problem after another: repeated construction halts, contractors quitting, land not being acquired on time, and poor management. The earlier contractor from Kolkata went bankrupt, leaving the site abandoned for several months.

This week, an important construction machine — the second launching girder — was finally put in place, helping speed up the work. Crews have now started placing concrete segments toward Kendriya Sadan.

However, the new contractor, who took over the project, has been falling behind on monthly progress targets since November 2023. Because of this, BBMP officials have warned them that more delays will not be accepted. A meeting was held last week to make sure everyone involved in the project is being held responsible and doing their part to get things moving.
