Hyderabad has emerged as the most attractive destination for new greenfield GCCs (global capability centres), attracting 40% of all such centres set up in the country over the last three years, surpassing Bengaluru’s 33% share during the same period.

With a base of 47.8 lakh accessible white-collar professionals, including 23.3 lakh with over a year of experience, the State becomes an attractive proposition for the new GCCs. Moreover, with women forming 33% of the GCC workforce and leadership representation at 19%, the city is conducive to setting up greenfield GCCs.

“This highlights Telangana’s growing strategic importance on the national and global map of capability centres,” Kamal Karanth, Co-founder, Xpheno, said.

GCC ecosystem matures

Telangana is currently home to over 360 GCCs, employing more than 3.1 lakh professionals and accounting for 14% of the State’s total white-collar workforce, according to the report Telangana: The Next-Gen GCC Powerhouse, released by the staffing company.

“Telangana is fast emerging as India’s next-generation GCC powerhouse. With a vibrant, skilled workforce and progressive infrastructure, the State has become a magnet for global enterprises seeking sustainable talent ecosystems,” Karanth said.

“Policy support and access to 47 lakh-plus white-collar professionals make Hyderabad a preferred hub for high-value capability centres. Telangana’s strong talent inflows, leadership depth, and rapid Greenfield GCC expansion underscore its readiness to anchor the next wave of innovation-led global operations from India,” he said.

“The State’s ability to attract and retain mid- and senior-level talent makes it a long-term strategic choice for global enterprises. As new-age GCCs look for scale and leadership depth,” Francis Padamadan, Chief Executive Officer (Designate) at Xpheno, said.

“Telangana’s GCC ecosystem has moved beyond its IT roots to become a multi-functional, sector-agnostic powerhouse. The inclusion of global R&D, finance, supply chain, and advanced engineering functions reflects the maturity and depth of the State’s talent pool,” added Padamadan.
