New Delhi: In a major development, the Modi government has started the work to build an expressway from AIIMS to Gurugram via Mahipalpur. The expressway will improve the connectivity between Delhi and Gurugram. The work on the Detailed Project Report (DPR) has already started. The DPR will include a feasibility report and specify which portions of the route will be underground and which will be elevated.

It is important to note that the stretch from AIIMS to Mahipalpur could be underground, while the remaining section may be elevated. Currently, it takes at least one and a half hours to travel from AIIMS to Gurugram’s Sirhaul border during peak hours.

Here are some of the key details:

• It takes at least two hours to reach the Gurugram-Faridabad Road.
• Once the expressway work is completed, the travel time to Gurugram-Faridabad Road will reduce to just 20 to 25 minutes.
• This will also help ease traffic congestion on the Delhi-Gurugram Expressway from Sirhaul Border to Mahipalpur.
• The project will not only save time but also help reduce pollution.
• It will be an approximately 35-kilometre-long signal-free expressway.
• According to a Jagran report, the estimated cost of this project is around ₹5,000 crore.
• It will connect to the Gurugram-Faridabad Road in front of Ghata village, the report further adds
• Both the underground and elevated sections of the expressway will have six lanes each.
• It will be connected to the main roads leading to the airport in the Delhi region.
