After a gap of almost three years, the Gurugram Municipal Corporation has ordered a crackdown on illegal residential construction in its areas. Commissioner Pradeep Dahiya, while taking a stern note of rampant construction of illegal floors in houses, has ordered demolition of 500 such constructions. At a meeting with enforcement wings of Zones 1 to 4 of Gurugram, Dahiya ordered the demolition of all illegal extensions of residential units. As per the plan, the enforcement units will target 20 such buildings in the first phase.
"We have zero tolerance towards encroachment and building bylaw violations. People are constructing four or five floors to get rental income even though their building plan is approved for just one floor. There will no longer be hollow warnings but strict action," said Dahiya.
