In a step towards taking over maintenance of private colonies, the Municipal Corporation of Gurugram (MCG) said it will upload a deficiency assessment report of Palam Vihar on its official website. The report, which is to be uploaded next week, will be on the condition of sanitation, sewage, water supply, open spaces and common areas in the Ansal-built private colony.
Acting on chief minister Manohar Lal Khattar’s directions, the MCG is to take over maintenance of nine private colonies, provided it is satisfied with the condition of civic services there.
Two months ago, the MCG had said that it is conducting on-the-spot surveys and compiling a deficiency assessment report on the civic amenities in these localities. It had added that following the report, the realtor concerned will be given the options to either fix the defects, complete the remaining civic works within six months or consent to transferring maintenance to the MCG and accordingly compensate the civic body to carry out repair or completion work of civic amenities.
“The findings of the report will be uploaded on our official website (www.mcg.gov.in) by next week for public review. A copy of the report will also be sent to the developer (Ansal). In the following weeks, reports of DLF localities will also be uploaded,” said V Umashankar, MCG commissioner.
He added that in the coming weeks they will meet Ansal officials to decide on the course of action. Ansal officials were unavailable for comments despite calls and messages.
Umashankar also dispelled rumours that Suncity will be the first private colony whose maintenance will be taken over by the MCG.
Bhim Singh Yadav, president, Sector 22 RWA, said, “We are eagerly awaiting the transfer as the condition of the roads, traffic, sewerage and water is pathetic. We are demanding basic amenities so that we do not regret being a resident of Gurgaon.”
In February last year, Khattar had directed the MCG to take over maintenance of five colonies including DLF phases 1, 2 and 3, Sushant Lok Phase 1, Palam Vihar. Later, South City-1 and 2, Ardee City and Suncity were added to the list.
