The groundwork for the Faridabad-Palwal metro connectivity had begun two days after Manohar Lal Khattar, Chief Minister, Haryana, announced it on June 25. A team from the District Information and Public Relations Officer (DIPRO) Faridabad office had reviewed the proposed Mass Rapid Transit (MRT) corridor from Ballabgarh to Palwal. The team included the principal advisor of HMRTC, SD Sharma, RITES SDGM, Raj Kishor, RITES manager, Neha Gambhir, and Sunny Dutta.
The 24-kilometre track would include 10 stations and would connect the industrial areas of Sector 58-59, Alhapur, Baghola, Prithla, Sikri, Softa, and Palwal. Alternatives for the MRT system would be investigated for the planned route, and after consultations with the NHAI and other stakeholders, the alignment would be decided. The Ballabgarh Railway Station, Ballabgarh Bus Stand, Palwal Bus Stand, and Raja Nahar Singh Metro Station would all be integrated into the upcoming project.
The Rail India Technical and Economic Services (RITES) would complete the techno-feasibility study of this route in a few days.
Furthermore, an official stated that a comprehensive mobility plan for Palwal was being developed.
It was mentioned that the upcoming line would be an elevated metro route, with an estimated cost of Rs 1.8 billion per kilometre. The total cost of the project was estimated to be around Rs 43.20 billion.
After the technical feasibility assessment was concluded, the project would be submitted for approval to the Haryana Mass Rapid Transport Corporation (HMRTC). Khattar had instructed for quick action in this regard.
During his address at the Gauravshali Bharat Rally in Gajpuri of Palwal, Khattar had emphasised that the Ballabgarh-Palwal metro project would also contribute to other development work in the area. He expressed gratitude to the central and state governments for their efforts in ensuring inclusive growth. He also thanked the Union government for their support in the development of important projects in the state, including national highways and the metro.
