Chief Minister Bommai announced his government's plans to build four 'new Bengalurus' around Bengaluru in order to cater to the needs of the fast-growing city.

Bengaluru:The Chief Minister of Karnataka Basavaraj Bommai, announced that the government is planning to build four satellite towns in Bengaluru and six integrated towns in the state. The rural towns such as Devanahalli, Nelamangala, Doddaballapur and one other town will be developed as satellite towns, CM Bommai said. The city has to be developed and expanded as the population is showing exponential growth and there is a need to create infrastructure for connecting Bengaluru and develop ‘a new Bengaluru’, he added.

“Devanahalli, Nelamangala and Doddaballapur will be developed as satellite towns of IT capital Bengaluru,” the Chief Minister declared while speaking at the Janaspandana rally held on Saturday to mark one year of Bommai-led government and three years of BJP rule in Karnataka.

In another public event earlier, the Chief Minister opined that Bengaluru should be like a planet where there will be satellite towns along with the best connectivity with rail, road, hi-tech travel systems and easy modes of transportation for the passengers

“At least four new Bengalurus have to be built around Bengaluru and in between these four, we can have different types of activities such as health city and integrated industrial township, including those related to aerospace and defence related industry,” Bommai explained his concept of satellite towns.
Satellite towns are mini-municipality-like urban bodies that are adjacent to a principal city which is the core of a metropolitan area.
Devanahalli is a region in the Bengaluru Rural district located 40 kilometres
to the northeast of the city. It is the site of Kempegowda International Airport. Nelamangala town is near the junction point of the National Highways 75 and 4 in Bengaluru Rural. Doddaballapura is an industrial city having several multinational companies. It lies 40 km away from the city. Details of the fourth prosed city have not been asserted yet.

The Bommai government is also considering six new cities, which will be developed as integrated townships. These cities will have all the latest amenities and will be connected to other cities.
