New Delhi: Ashram flyover closure gave nightmares to commuters in the national capital. With the flyover opening recently, motorists are feeling some respite. However, the respite is not going to be really long as another part of the city will see traffic snarls as the Chirag Dilli flyover will be shut down for repairs from Sunday (March 12).
The repair work of the flyover has been due for over a year. The process will take around 50 days and the work will be conducted in two phases. The two carriageways will be shut alternately for around 25 days each.
The maintenance work will first be taken up on the stretch from Nehru Place to IIT Delhi and then of the opposite carriage. The closure of the carriageways is likely to add to the city’s traffic woes. Those heading to the railway stations, airport, hospitals, etc., may experience delays and are advised to take alternative routes and plan their commute keep the flyover closure in mind.

A senior traffic cop said that the movement of heavy and commercial vehicles on Outer Ring Road towards Chirag Delhi may be restricted when required.
