Built at a cost exceeding Rs 12,000 crore, the six-lane Delhi-Dehradun Expressway starts at Akshardham in Delhi, and traverses through Baghpat, Shamli, and Saharanpur

Commuters travelling from Delhi to the Uttar Pradesh border (Loni) can anticipate significant relief as the Delhi-Dehradun Expressway nears completion, with opening expected in January 2025. This new route promises to reduce the current one-hour journey to a mere 20 minutes, saving travellers both time and money.

Overseen by the National Highways Authority of India (NHAI), the 212-km Delhi-Dehradun Greenfield Access Controlled Expressway is nearing its final stages.

Starting at Akshardham in Delhi, it connects to Dehradun through Khekra, Shamli, and Saharanpur. The initial 31.6-km stretch, from Akshardham to the EPE Crossing (Khekra), is almost complete, with trials already conducted.

Dheeraj Singh, Project Director of NHAI, confirmed that this section, encompassing an 18 km elevated corridor and a six-lane service road, will be open to the public by January. This development will significantly benefit commuters travelling to Ghaziabad and Loni, and will also provide improved access for those heading to Sonia Vihar, Karawal Nagar, and Yamuna Pushta.

Built at a cost exceeding Rs 12,000 crore, the six-lane Delhi-Dehradun Expressway is designed to enhance connectivity. Starting at Akshardham in Delhi, it traverses through Baghpat, Shamli, and Saharanpur. The construction is divided into four phases, with the first two phases, from Akshardham to the EPE Junction (Khekra), already finished.
