In a major relief to Mumbaikars, fares on Atal Setu, India's longest sea bridge, has been reduced by over 50 per cent. With this, the Navi Mumbai Municipal Transport is expecting more passengers to use Mumbai Trans Harbour Link (MTHL).
Mumbai: Travelling between Mumbai and Navi Mumbai via the Atal Setu bridge has become more affordable than ever. This comes after the Navi Mumbai Municipal Transport slashed fares by over 50 per cent in a bid to encourage more people to use Atal Setu, India's longest sea bridge. Implemented last week, the revised fares have brought a significant relief to passengers travelling on the routes.
As per the new rule, the fare for the Karagar-Mantralaya route has dropped from Rs. 270 to Rs. 120, while the Nehru-Mantralaya fare has been reduced from Rs. 230 to Rs. 105. Now, the NMMT launched these two routes connecting Navi Mumbai and Mantralaya in September last year.
Inaugurated with expectations of high footfall, Mumbai Trans Harbour Link (MTHL) witnessed completely different results. The passengers' count was way lower than expected. Therefore, the Transport Authority has reassessed and lowered the prices to attract more ridership. This is a significant move from the Navi Mumbai Municipal Transport.
Bus Fares Lowered
With that, buses that run on Atal Setu have also significantly reduced the fares. The move is likely to encourage more people to opt more for public transport buses, with reduced fares. This is good news for Navi Mumbaikars, especially those who reside in Navi Mumbaikars. They can take the buses from Khargar to Manthwale, from Nehru to Manthwale, and so on. There are four to five stops which are mentioned in the revised list, and the cost is quite effective now.
