Bengaluru Namma Metro Update: While the Bengaluru Metro Rail Corporation Limited (BMRCL) had stated that the operation will start in 2026, the BJP leaders are claiming that the construction speed is slow and the operation is not likely to begin ahead of 2027. Apart from this, the saffron party leaders are also demanding the government transfer the 45-acre Hebbal land to the BMRCL.
Bengaluru Namma Metro Update: BJP leader PC Mohan on Saturday claimed that the Karnataka government is showing less interest in the completion of the Blue Line of Namma Metro, adding that the operation of the much-awaited line is likely to begin in 2027. The Blue Line will connect Central Silk Board to Kempegowda International Airport (KIA) and will run along the Outer Ring Road (ORR), providing relief to the residents from the traffic congestion. The metro line will also benefit thousands of IT employees as it will pass through one of Bengaluru's key IT corridors.
Apart from this, the metro line will also cut the travel time from several regions of the city to the international airport. While the Bengaluru Metro Rail Corporation Limited (BMRCL) had stated that the operation will start in 2026, the BJP leaders are claiming that the construction speed is slow and the operation is not likely to begin ahead of 2027. Apart from this, the saffron party leaders are also demanding the government transfer the 45-acre Hebbal land to the BMRCL.
Construction Progress Has Been Delayed: BJP Leader
In a post on X, PC Mohan also questioned the delay in the Pink and Yellow lines of Namma Metro. "Bengaluru Metro's construction progress has already been delayed due to the State government's lack of interest. The Yellow Line is ready but stalled due to delays in train procurement. The Pink Line won’t be fully operational until 2026, and the Blue Line to the airport has been pushed to 2027," Mohan stated in his post.
"The 45-acre Hebbal land must be handed over to BMRCL. With three metro lines and a suburban rail station planned, it is crucial for Bengaluru’s transit future. The center has approved it, and BMRCL is ready to pay Rs 551.15 crore. The Karnataka government must prioritize public transport over private interests," he added.
