Apartment owners across multiple Bangalore Development Authority (BDA) housing projects have come together to form a collective platform — the BDA Apartments Owners Forum, to represent their concerns and improve engagement with the Authority.
The forum has residents from several BDA-developed projects on board, including BDA Alur, BDA Gunjur, BDA Jnanabharathi Enclave, BDA Kaniminike, BDA Kommaghatta, BDA Konadasapura, and BDA Thippasandara, among others.
Members said the initiative focuses on concerns such as maintenance, delays in pending works, and the need for greater transparency in handover processes. These issues, residents noted, have affected daily living, specifically for first-time homebuyers who have faced prolonged delays, incomplete infrastructure, and a lack of clarity in ownership transfer, often leading to financial strain.
The group said that collective engagement with the BDA has led to some progress already. With the authority focusing on vertical housing projects, residents said there is a growing need for a structured, representative body to engage with the Authority.
Currently, the group is working with the BDA on facilitating the formation of apartment associations and ensuring a transparent handover and takeover process. Members also mentioned that the forum intends to play a role in shaping policies related to apartment governance within the BDA ecosystem.
