With construction work in full swing, the Jahangirpuri-Samaypur Badli Metro corridor may open to public by March 2015.
The elevated viaduct of this extended line—which will connect the Rohini area to the Metro network—crosses the Northern Railway tracks just before the Badli Metro station. Two separate viaducts for the up and down lines have been built by using a 45-metre-span steel bridge. This steel bridge will be at least 12 metres above the railway track.
The Metro alignment at the Outer Ring Road after the Badli Mor station also runs on two separate viaducts for up and down lines. DMRC had built a common pier for the Metro alignment and a PWD flyover.
The Metro corridor which will cover Jahangirpuri, GT Karnal Road, Rohini, Transport Nagar and Badli has eight turns along the route. "We are determined to deliver on time. The completion of the corridor will be accompanied by the upgradation of the adjoining areas, especially the Badli crossing," said Jitendra Tyagi, director (works).
The line will cater to more than 25,000 people in the area. More than 70% of the construction work has already been completed. "The 54-km extension will make the Huda City Center-Samaypur Badli line the longest in the Metro network," said Anuj Dayal, executive director, DMRC.
The Badli Mor station on the line will connect line 7 (Majlis Park-Shiv Vihar) and 8 (Janakpuri West-Botanical Garden) with line 2. It will also work as an interchange station to the proposed RK Ashram-Mukundpur-Janakpuri (West) section.
