Meerut is an important district of Western Uttar Pradesh. It is the third largest district of UP after Kanpur and Lucknow.

Meerut district is a part of Delhi NCR and one of the fastest growing districts owing to its improving connectivity with Delhi.

Meerut district is a part of the Indian state of Uttar Pradesh, and Meerut serves as the district headquarters for the Meerut district. The district is also included in the Meerut division. The administrative head of Meerut district is a District Magistrate, while the administrative head of the Meerut Division is an Indian Administrative Service (IAS) officer who holds the post of Divisional Commissioner.

History Of Meerut

In the 18th century, Meerut became an important center of the Mughal Empire, and it was also a major hub for the East India Company. During the Indian Rebellion of 1857, Meerut was one of the first cities to witness a major revolt against the British, and it played a significant role in the rebellion.

After India gained independence in 1947, Meerut became part of the newly formed state of Uttar Pradesh. The city and district have since seen significant growth and development, particularly in the areas of industry, education, and agriculture.
